"Wing Zero Custom (from OVA)" 2008-10-17
By K. Mendoza
I know a place where they sell millions of Gundam models for $20 a piece, but this is well worth the price, since the TV anime did air almost 13 years ago, so this model is hard to find in retail stores.

For anyone who does not know, this is the HG (or High Grade) model version of this Gundam. The levels are HG (around $25 or so), MG (Master Grade, around $50+) And PG (Perfect Grade, easily goes over $100, but is well worth it). If you are willing to spend the money, a Gundam fan, or just a hobbyist, I would suggest getting the PG or MG models. If price is a problem, stick to the HG models, they're impressive themselves.

Almost all of the pieces are colored silver so it looks cool. It is not the real color of the Gundam, but it looks okay. The only thing that I am sad about are the wings of this model; It is just one piece of silver plastic with a few movable parts. For anyone who loves this model (I do, my favorite Gundam), try to research the PG or MG models for information on more movable/complex wings, because that is the one main thing that gives this Gundam its uniqueness.

Overall, a great buy.

 "As a whole..." 2009-06-22
By Steve Son
This model, as with all models in general, was a lot of fun to build. It looks great and the support frame helps to add to its image. As per its posability, the main body is extremely durable which allows for many different poses and changes. The wings also look great with its multiple wing joints, but that's also wherein lies the problem.

The wings, which make up a good HALF of the model itself, are victim to poor joints and gravity. You can get the wings to move literally however you want, but may take some minor tweaks and adjustments to get them to stay where you want them. The "flat" wings are no problem, however, because there are not nearly as intricate as the other pair. The many little "feathers" on the wings are not as unruly as the parent wing, but are brittle, and will fall off rather easily if you're not careful.

Overall, this model is not for beginners nor people without a gentle hand. It looks great once you get it how you want it to look and is guaranteed to be spotlight in your collection. Just keep it out of reach of small children as the pieces easily pop off and pose a potential hazard.

Katoki Hajime's designs are unique and appealing; combined with Master Grade detail and engineering, this is bound to be one of the hottest machines in the Master Grade lineup! Over 260 pieces on 13 runners, plus polycaps; everything is molded in color and snaps together, for ease of assembly. The usual foil stickers for eyes and other "glowing" parts are included. Also included is a sheet of clear "Gundam Stickers" with various warnings and markings on them; and of course Bandai's not forgotten their super-crisp dry-transfer decals for the major designation markings!  "Gundan Wing Zero Ka Version" 2008-10-19
By A.T.F.
Nice detail. Beautiful when finish. THe only down side is that the knee part where there is a hook attach is not as durable as it seems. I hooked the knee pads reversed and unhooked it to switch them the right way and plastic stayed open and it wont hook the knee plastics anymore. Have to use super glue to stick them....What a disappointment. Just be sure to follow instructions step by step and carefully so you wont avoid this hassle of removing parts. Also be careful on playing witht the wings too much, the part where the joint of the wings and the back plate connects it opens up when moving the wings, causing the plastic to open and the wing become loose. I know this is a model kit, but for being a master grade kit, plastic dont hold much.

Bandai's MSIA Wing Gundam Zero is a real delight, especially at this more-than-reasonable price. This is a completed toy -- there's no assembly or painting involved. It's fully-posable, of course, and comes with plenty of accessories (twin buster rifle, beam sabre, shield), and three different sets of interchangeable hands to hold it all. Made of rugged PVC to handle plenty of interstellar combat action. Transforms into 'Neo Bird Mode'!

"A review for Gundam beginners" 2008-10-19
By Tyler (Tampa Bay, Fl, USA)
If you're a Gundam fan, then you don't need a review to guide you. You probably already know what you do and don't want and what to expect out of a Gundam. This is a write-up for people who might be on the fence about the franchise or those who live the look of the models but maybe aren't familiar with the show like me.

The first thing you should know is that this is a model, not an action figure. Deathscythe Hell comes on several plastic runners that you must break the individual pieces out of before you can assemble them. The runners are labeled with letters (A, B, C, etc.) and the pieces with numbers. The included instructions are in Japanese, but the detailed pictures tell you exactly what you need to know, kind of like a LEGO set. Snap together construction means you don't have to worry about glue either.

Unlike a LEGO set however, your finished product isn't made to come back apart and only has one configuration. However, building a Gundam is a fun (and slightly time consuming) experience. As a first timer, I spent a solid 2 and a half hours on Deathscythe Hell. The figure at the end of it all is quite rewarding, as well.

The finished product is fully articulated and can hold a variety of poses. Even without paint (which is something some may want to consider even though the kit comes with some detail stickers) the Gundam is very detailed. Deathscythe Hell exudes quite a presence, even though it only stands about 16 cm high. The wings make this thing look downright intimidating. Even the closed-winged "shield" or "cloak" mode gives off an air of mystery, and the beam scythe (with removable blade so it can turn "off") is a unique and cool accessory.

Fully articulated as it is, it's not really set up to be "played with." It'll hold a pose just fine, but it's light and may feel frail to some. It is hollow, after all. Some of the pegs may seem loose, as well as some of the joints. People who like to doodle around with their stuff may want to consider some glue to fix these problems.

All in all though, Deathscythe Hell Custom is a really neat toy. It's fun to build and fun to pose. Beginners may want to try something else first to get their feet wet, but diving into this one head first proved to be a great experience! I definitely recommend it to those who like a hint of "darkness" with their serving of giant robot. Also, pair it with a version of Gundam Wing Zero Custom for a cool devil/angel motif. The two have a really cool synergy when displayed with one another.

"I Can Haz Quality Control?" 2008-08-11
By Eppy (Detroit, MI USA)
The Mobile Suit in question is a Hajime Katoki redesign of the original XXXG-01W Wing Gundam by Kunio Okawara; its frame is largely based around the XXXG-00W0 redesign Katoki created for Endless Waltz, but with a color scheme much similar to the original Wing Gundam; new additions are the Buster Rifle, which has been much revamped-it is much longer and thinner than the original, with a scope derived from the Wing Zero refit's buster rifle, and a blue extension mirroring the rear piece of the shield that extends up over the arm-two arrays of power packs, presumably spare batteries for the Buster Rifle, (itself only carrying enough energy for one discharge in each of its three batteries), which are contained in white racks that can be attached to the forearms in Bird Mode-the forearms themselves, which now sport Wing Zero-like sensors and two lengthy talons per forearm which will turn 180 degrees along the flat of the arm-the wings, which are now a large, weighty conglomeration of red, white, yellow and blue-and the shield, which resembles the original Wing Gundam model up until the midsection, where it becomes that of the Wing Gundam Zero. The whole model sports text such as 'Lagrange One' and 'XXXG01' on the shield and 'Colonies Liberation Organization' on the wings. It is extremely pretty, overall, and the redesign itself is sound.

The manufacturing is where things go sour. However these were made differently from other previous Bandai action figures, the old methods worked better. The detail inlays and the paints themselves are excellent, but the quality of the actual paintjob is quite poor, with colors bleeding off onto surfaces they shouldn't all across the board. The plastic molding itself is very poorly done, and there are defects nearly everywhere one looks; moving parts seem to fall off at any given moment; mine was separated at the midsection, with all six of the pelvic armor plates off at various points; the shoulder guards do not move very well at all, and indeed must be forced into their Bird Mode positions; the talons on the arms were warped, the plastic itself is very, very brittle, parts do not move as they should, most notably the backpack system when transforming into Bird Mode (which is also EXTREMELY fragile), and, what for me was worst of all, the entire right head extension (the 'ear', if you will) is deformed, sunk more than half a centimeter below its correctly positioned counterpart on the left.

The instructions are as bad as the Mobile Suit itself; as usual they are in Japanese, but these particular instructions are insufficiently detailed pictorial-wise and make deciphering the already over-complex transformation sequence a real task (it took me half an hour).

Overall, the Mobile Suit receives Two of Five. Very attractive design, but simply horrible manufacturing and poor instructions. Buy it if you're one of those who chooses not to take it out of the box or really like the design; otherwise, not for the average fan or a child.

 "pictures looked better!" 2007-06-12
By M. Khaber (Richland, WA USA)
Well, I had wanted one of these since they came out 3 years ago....And now I got my chance. But, what you see in the pictures is not what you get in the mail. To be blunt, I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the toy. As a matter of fact, it was horrible. Joints keep seperating, you need to glue them in place, and parts don't fit correctly. The molding to the figure was bent or the shape wasn't right for its head and the shield. And then there's the paint job. Maybe mine was the practice figure that wasn't meant to be sold, but for whatever reason, the paint job was downright pathetic. Smudges on the toy are apparent, lines are smeared rather than painted solidly...overspray on at least 70 percent of the figure is apparent....overall, it looks okay if you look at it from a distance...but up close, you see all the imperfections at its utmost glory. I don't think this thing was worth $40 dollars. The arch-nemesis Wing zero figure is bigger, paint job is flawless, parts fit perfectly, and molding and shape to the figure is excellent, and all this costs only $29 dollars...had I not been a huge fan of gundam wing, I probably would have gotten a refund by now.

 "Tiny" 2009-08-28
By Red_Comet3x (California, USA)
As you may have notice from the title, this figure is way too TINY. When I put this gundam next my msia collection, it looks like the new halo 3 toy standing next to its huge counterparts of halo 1 & 2. It simply does not fit, it would be better off in the hcm pro section as they are of the same size. At first, when I saw the pictures I thought WOW it was pretty big, but I was hugely disappointed. Overall, if you don't mind the size, this W gundam 00 is a durable, well painted and articulated figure.

 "Eh.." 2009-05-20
By M. Moore
Not quite what I was looking for. I am in the process of returning it now because it just didn't fit the bill. I was looking for something to replace the older model I had of Wing Zero Custom and of regular Wing Zero. My older models would be around the size of the older power ranger megazords and that's what I was expecting but I was surely disappointed. The detail itself was great but it was a toy for a child and not something I could build from parts they put in a bag then box it up later for decoration. If you're a hardcore Gundam fan then I guess you wouldn't be too disappointed because it's just another figure for your ultimate collection, but if you're looking for the model you build yourself that you can pass down for generations, this isn't the one.

I ended up returning this item because it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It was a bit too small to replace the larger model that I previously owned. Although, the detail looks very nice and it seems like it would be a toy that could last for a while, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

The most impressive model in Bandai's history is finally here! This kit has too much to list in detail, so please be willing to settle for the highlights: 30 plus runners of parts (670 total pieces). About 30 locations secured by metal screws. Two different locations light up on the finished kit (eyes and chest). Full inner mechanism detail on all limbs. Opening panels on the head, chest and more. Fingers are individually-jointed. Comes with two beam sabers and two huge beam rifles. Locking systems provide stability so things don't flap around like they do on the Master Grade kit. Comes boxed in three separate inner boxes plus a special box that contains the 14 individual "feathers" made from plastic coated thin metal plus the metal joint parts, screws and other goodies. Two separate manuals are included. The first, the INSTRUCTION manual (Japanese Text only) has numerous photos of the kit in various construction steps plus painting guide, history of the unit and the Battle Zero unit, cross sections and an interview with the designer of the kit. The second, the CONSTRUCTION manual has the actual assembly instructions and details. No English text but the diagrams are self-explanatory. This is a very complex model kit. It is not recommended for beginner modelers.

 "Right Discription, wrong picture" 2009-06-04
By Eric Gardner Fr (Euless, TX USA)
You do know you hand the wrong picture. While the dispriction talks about the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero, the pic it shows is a AMSiA Gat-X105 Strike Gundam (although it's a neat looking figure, and I'd love to get my hands on one, hell...I'll just find the G-Weapons in that format!)

 "Masterpiece" 2009-05-02
By Isil Nemura (Europe)
Okay, so it came very quickly. The only down-side i had was i had to order twice since a carrier (No fault of Amazon) couldnt "find" my address. But i called Amazon, and they got that cleared up and sent to me very fast. Once it came i spent an entire weekend building it. It looks gorgeous and is only for those with experience building gundams. I have built several and this presented me with a challenge or two building it. First major challenge was the wiring. it tells you certain lengths to cut then shave down to bare wire. cut exactly how much wire they tell you, with maybe 2mm extra in case you're like me and need to expose the wire multiple times for re-wiring. Pay attention to the color of the wire shown in the instructions, yes it does matter. Also, it didn't come with the batteries, but those were easily found and purchased at a local jeweler/watch shop. Also have some glue handy, as some of the snap in parts don't snap in and stay perfectly. Once it was done, i was very proud of myself. the level of detail is unreal. it's a little wing-heavy once you try to pose, so i would get a wide stand, with multiple arms if you can find it. But this is the best gundam i have ever, and well worth every penny.

 "none too pleased" 2009-03-27
By Lordac
While pretty to look at, the overall rating of this kit is below average. I'll list the pros and cons:

Pro:

- great design (one of the best looking gundam around imo), detailed,

- many, many parts and very fun to build,

- flexible joints, can create many poses (including some weird ones),

- 1/60 scale makes it a huge robot.

Cons:

- poor quality, not sturdy. parts keep falling off, including the joints and the wings,

- overly priced at $170

- will NOT stand on its own unless using the wings as 3rd or 4th leg!

- does not come with stand,

- don't expect to play with it when you finished building it, unless you plan on super gluing the loose pieces.

In a nutshell, this kit looks extremely pretty in the pics but irl it's pretty crappy. Don't get it unless you are a fanboy of the series and/or have too much money to burn.
